Ingredients:
1/2 cup of butter at room temperature
1/4 cup of white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon of margarine
One egg separated at room temperature
One heaping teaspoon of vanilla
One cup of sifted flour
Pinch of salt
1 cup finally chopped pecans or walnuts
Raspberry or strawberry jam
One sewing thimble
Recipe:
Preheat oven to 350
Cream together butter and sugar with a hand mixer on medium
Add in vanilla and a well beaten egg yolk (keep the white for later). Slowly Add in your flour and your salt and mix until it comes together don’t over mix it will make cookies tough. Then shape into little balls- dip in the reserved egg white And roll in your chopped nuts place on a greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Gently take your thimble and dent each cookie. Cook for five minutes take out and re-dent each cookie again. Cook for another 12 minutes.

So many treasured memories-these cookies were very special to our family and have stood the test of time a real crowd pleaser! I know that Great Gramma is looking down from heaven smiling that we have passed this on to her grand babies.
